Bassett, sen., entertained many relatives and friends at a social evening in Tunnel Hall to celebrate their golden wedding. The evening was spent in dancing. Ern Hebert?s orchestra supplied the music. Mr. A. Miller was M.C. A two-tiered wedding cake, decorated in gold, was made and donated by the daughters. Two easy chairs were also a gift from the family. Telegrams and letters were received from three members of the family who were unable to be present. Rev. Dando proposed the health of Mr. and Mrs. Bassett and presented them with an eiderdown quilt from Tunnel residents and to Mr. Bassett a prayer book from the Anglican Church members. Mr. Bassett has been churchwarden for many years. The toast was responded by Mr. Eric Bassett on behalf of his parents. Mr. Bassett, sen., also spoke. Supper was served.
