  Notes	The Wayne Herald, Nebraska, Thursday, 7 October 1948 Conduct Services Here on Saturday For Charles Bass Charles Bass, 73, died in a Sioux City hospital following an illness of a week. Funeral rites were conducted Saturday at the Dixon Methodist church with Rev. Clay Ealum in charge. Mrs. Ealum, Waldo Johnson and Eldred Smith furnished music. Pallbearers were Glenn Stingley, Earl McCaw, Clarence Herfel, Walter Peterson, Melvin Man and Ralph Noe. Burial was in the Concord cemetery. Charles Oliver Bass, son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Bass was born in Illinois, July 14, 1875. HE moved to Burt county, Nebraska when he was four years old. Later he spent a year in South Dakota and then came back to Nebraska, his home since. On March 5, 1902, he and Clara Pembrook were married in Tekamah. Twelve children were born to them, seven of who survive. Deceased became a member of the Church of Christ in 1940. Mrs. Bass died in 1935, and five children also preceded him in death. Survivors are his sons, Vernon of Dixon and Glen of Kingsley, Ia.; five daughters, Mrs. Zadia Backman of Ponca, Mrs. Ella Kingston of Wayne, Mrs. Burnis Martinson of Wakefield, Mrs. Phyllis Westerman of Dixon and Mrs. Lillian Larimor of Tingley, Ia.; three brothers, Walter and Grover of Laurel and Jess of Tilden, Idaho; two sisters, Mrs. Effie Harris of Dixon and Mrs. Aletha Manley of Wayne.
