      James Donald ?Jim? Bass

      James (Jim) was born to Donald Woodrow and Evelyn Ann (Bird) Bass in Dayton, Iowa and attended school there.

      Jim was the brother of Robert, Charles, Michael, Shirley, Donna and Kathryn Bass.

      He married Judy JoAnn Rapp on December 6, 1964. They lived in Dayton, Webster County, Iowa.

      They adopted the love of their lives, John James Bass, who was born on November 6, 1970. Jim enjoyed attending John's school and sporting events.

      Jim was a carpenter with Rojohn Construction Company in Fort Dodge for over 11 years. He later drove a beer route, then a Pepsi route for Mid-Continent Bottlers in Fort Dodge. He was also a caretaker with his wife at Lakota Girl Scout Camp for 5 1/2 years, worked for the Farmers Cooperative in Dayton and most recently at Frigidaire Appliance Manufacturer in Webster City for over 14 years.

      James was a member of United Methodist Church in Dayton, Dayton Wranglers Club, and United Automobile Workers. He enjoyed being involved as a team member of a friend at tractor pulls. He loved to watch sports, tractor pulling and stock car racing. He also enjoyed bowling.

      Jim suffered a heart attack a few years earlier and died of congestive heart failure at the age of 55 years, 24 days.

      Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Donald in 1995 and Evelyn in 1993; father-in-law, Alvin Rapp; mother-in-law, Betty Rapp Tuttle; step father-in-law, Floyd Tuttle.

      Survivors include his wife, Judy; son, John James (Sue) of Clear Lake; brothers: Robert (Coleen) of Ankeny; Charles (Judy) of Englewood, CO; Michael (Sandra) of Austin, TX; sisters: Shirley (Donald) Kruse of Laurens; Donna (Denny) Davis of Fort Dodge; Kathryn Bass of Columbia, MO; grandmother-in-law, Beulah Williams of Fort Dodge; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

      Visitation was 5-8 pm Sunday at Carson Funeral Home in Dayton, with family present; and for one hour before the church service. A funeral service was 2 pm Monday at United Methodist Church in Dayton with Rev. John Hembry officiating. Burial was in Paton Township Cemetery, Paton.
