      Joan Bass (Includes Picture)

MOUNT VERNON, Ind. ? Joan Bass, 61, of Mount Vernon, Indiana, passed away at Deaconess Hospice Care Center at 5:23 p.m. Sunday, August 17, 2008. She went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, whom she loved and worshipped without reserve. God's Word, the Bible, was her constant guide in her destiny to her Savior. She gave herself away to others and required very little of this life, which was but a stepping stone to her eternal destiny with her Lord. To know her was to love her.
Joan was born November 28, 1946, in Mount Sterling, Kentucky. She was a member of Evansville United Christian Fellowship Church. Joan fought the good fight of faith through her battle with cancer. Joan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker.
Joan would say, "When I come to the end of the road, and the sun has set for me, why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not too long, and not with your head bowed low. Remember the love that was once shared, miss me, but let me go. For this is a journey we all must take and each must go alone. When you're lonely and sick of heart, go to the family and friends we know. And bury your sorrows in good memories and deeds. Miss me, but let me go."
She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Carroll Bass of Mount Vernon; her mother, Lela Dailey of La Porte, Ind.; daughter, Cindy Vanpatten of Boonville; son, Tim Simon and his wife, Kelly, of Boonville; stepdaughter, Rebecca Kelly of Louisville, Ky.; stepson, Matthew Bass and his wife, Debi, of Louisville, Ky.; eight grandchildren, Michael Simon, Danielle Simon, Kayla Simon, Christopher Powell, Justin Powell, Aubree Vanpatten, Logan Vanpatten and Kirsten Simon; great-granddaughter, Yamara Simon; and two brothers, Ron Dailey of Kingsford Heights, Ind., and Dennis Dailey and his wife, Sandi, of Michigan City, Ind.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dan Dailey.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2008, at Evansville United Christian Fellowship Church, 1708 Fuquay Road, Evansville, with Herbert Hope officiating.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. in Loveless Chapel Cemetery in Salem, Kentucky.
