Sid ?Carl? Bass
Memorial service: 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Fort Dodge, Iowa. Local arrangements were under the direction of Cantlon Otterness Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation: 8 to 10 a.m. prior to services at the funeral home in Iowa.
Sid "Carl" Bass, 81, formerly of Clare, Iowa, was born Dec. 1, 1931, in Spencer, Iowa, the son of LeRoy and Mildred Bass. He died Nov. 6, 2013, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield.
He was reared in Spencer, Iowa, and graduated from Spencer High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and continued his service in the National Guard.
He worked in road maintenance for Webster County until retirement in 1994. He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, farming and building houses.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine; his parents; his son, Rex; and his brother, Richard.
Survivors include his significant other, Lynn Peterson; nine children; three stepchildren; 29 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and his sister, Annabelle.

Carl was born in Spencer, Iowa, on December 1, 1931 to LeRoy and Mildred Bass. He grew up and graduated from Spencer High School in 1950.
