Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Hamilton?s Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home. Burial will be at Union Cemetery near Polk City. Mr. Bass was born in Boone and had lived in Polk City before moving to Des Moines 22 years ago. He retired from Armstrong Tire and Rubber Co., where he worked in the shipping department. He was a veteran of the Marines and a member of Polk City American Legion and Veterans of Foreign wars. He is survived by his wife, Isabell; a son, Bill of Huxley; two daughters, Lorna Thomas of Slater and Leona Bass of Huxley; three sisters, Mary West of Ogden and Eleanora Countryman and Ina Lee, both of Boone; and six grandchildren. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
