Niels Clyde Bassett
Niels Clyde Bassett was born on April 2, 1947, in Gridley, California, to Robert James Bassett and Norma Boeslund Nielsen.
Niels attended school in Gridley, Fresno, and Yuba City; graduating from Yuba City High School in 1965 and California State University, Chico in 1977 with his degree in Accounting.
Niels lived his life to the fullest; serving as a missionary in the Northern States Mission from 1966-1968 and Bishop of the Paradise 3rd ward for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, President of the Paradise Exchange Club, and as a member of Toastmaster and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Niels and his loving wife, Collette, were married for time and for all eternity on December 30, 1970, in the Oakland, California Temple, on January 13, 2007.
Neils was called home to his loving Heavenly Father.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Collette Lynn Johnson; mother, Norma Cahill; five children: Douglas M. Bassett (Kristin), Joseph D. Bassett, Elisha D. Robinson (Micah), Erik J. Bassett (Coleen), and Melissa J. Dowd (Tucker); and www.loving grandfather to Teaghan, Brittnee, Andon, Treven, Zakry, Logan, and Brayden.
He will be missed by all who have been given the opportunity to know him.
Memorial services will be held at the Bille Road Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on January 18, 2007, at 11 a.m. Public viewing will begin at 9 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donation's can be made to the LDS missionary fund.
