Helen F. Bessette
HELEN F. BESSETTE, 101, of 30 Alexander Ave., an office worker for the former Swift & Co. until she retired in 1922, died Monday at the United Methodist Health Care Center.
She was the wife of the late Alfred S. Bessette. She was born in Middleboro, Mass., the daughter of the late Curtis H. and Florence (Pearce) Dunham. She had lived for many years in New Bedford and Lakeville before moving to East Providence in 1987. She was a member of the Haven United Methodist Church and the Freetown Senior Club.
She leaves a daughter-in-law, Eva Bessette of North Kingstown, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Lt. Cmdr. USN (Ret'd) A. Curtis Bessette.
The graveside service will be held Friday at noon in Pine Grove Cemetery, Ashley Boulevard, New Bedford. Burial will follow.
