Mrs. Kansas Bass Claimed by Death
Funeral Services Will Be Held Friday Afternoon
Mrs. Kansas Moore Bass, 80, widow of the late Augustus Bass, died at 8:15 o?clock Wednesday morning at the home of her son, Homer Bass, north Seventh street.
Mrs. Bass had been in failing health for some time, suffering from a heart ailment which led to a light paralytic stroke on December 26. At that time she was brought to the home of her son, and while she rallied slightly at times, her general condition gradually declined.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Haverly mortuary here, with the Rev. N.I. Schoolfield, pastor of the First Methodist church, in charge. Burial will be in the Bass cemetery, north of Mitchell.
She was born March 20, 1859 to Bartlett and Matilda Hart Arnett Moore, a Avoca, in this county. She was married to Mr. Bass March 4, 1879, in Marion township. Most of their married life was spent on a farm north of Mitchell. They moved to Mitchell for a time, then returned to the farm. Mr. Bass died December 16, 1934.
Mrs. Bass was a devoted member of the Methodist church, her membership being at Wesley Chapel.
Survivors are two sons, Homer Bass of Mitchell, and Roy bass of Austin; two daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Nichols and Mrs. Stella Fields, of Mitchell; two sisters, Mrs. Adeline Davis of Marion township and Mrs. Marie Fields of Mitchell; 18 grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.
