Peggy Lynell Bass
Peggy L. (Nell) Bass was born February 2, 1941, in Gorman, Texas to Nelson and Irene Ryan. She was married to her husband Ronald E. Bass on August 5, 1967. They were married for 55+ years.
Nell lived her young adult life in Texas and New Mexico but has been a resident of Austin for 48+ years. She earned a Bachelor's degree from Texas Woman's University in 1962 and a Master's degree from Eastern New Mexico University in 1965. She taught for 30 years at the college and high school levels. At retirement she taught at Hill Country Middle School in the Eanes Independent School District. She also taught in the Elgin Independent School District, Hobbs NM Schools, New Mexico Community College, East Texas State University, and Wichita State University. She was a long distance walker and competed 5 Austin 3M half marathons. Nell grew up in Graham, Texas and as a teenager was a rodeo barrel racer.
