Lonny ?Gene? Bass, age 67 of Bennettsville, SC passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Scotland Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 26,2016 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel officiated by Rev. Joel Quick. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Cemetery.
Gene was born June 10, 1948 in Marlboro County, South Carolina, son of the late James and Bessie Mae Roberts Bass. He was an automotive mechanic retiring after37 years of service from Hermans?s Tire Company. He was proud to be called ?the best alignment man in Laurinburg?. Gene enjoyed fishing, restoring classic cars, doing yardwork and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Tony Bass.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Locklear Bass of their home; son, Eric Gene Bass (Elizabeth) of Bennettsville, SC; daughters, Cassie Danelle Britt (Steven) of Gibson, NC, Wendy Michelle Taylor (Anthony) of Bennettsville, SC; sister, Terry Devon Whitt of Laurinburg, NC and his grandchildren, Emilee Jade Britt, Erica Tyler Britt, Anthony Woodrow Taylor II, Haley Britt, JJ Britt; his nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service on Saturday at Richard Boles Funeral Service.
