In 1865 Schuyler and Esther sold to Lucinda land in West Pultney, Riga Township. In 1864 Edwin E. and wife Phebe Maria of Cleveland, Ohio sold a lot. Also, Edwin E, Mare E. and Schuyler W. and wife Esther of East St. Louis, Illinois sold land in Riga, New York to Chas Embling.
      William, Lucinda, Egbert and Edwin E. Bassett are listed as members of the Belcoda Baptist Church of Wheatland, New York.
      William was mustered into service as a Musician on the 12th day of Dec 1862, at New York, in the 25th Battery of Light Arty. N.Y. Volunteers to serve 3 years, or during the war. On Muster Roll for the month of May and June 1863, reported "Died June 11th 1863 at St. James Hospital New Orleans LA of Typhoid Fever."
      In a letter written about 1940 (FL1940), Rev. Carl Bassett of Canon City, Colorado gives dates and places of birth of family members.

      Will: Bergen Sept. 12th 1862. In the name of God, Amen. I William P. Bassett of the town of Bergen in the County of Genesee and State of New York being of sound mind and memory and considering the uncertainty of this frail and transitory life do therefore make ordain, publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament. That is to say First after all my lawful debts are paid and dischraged the residue of my estate real and personal. I give bequeath and dispose of as follws to wit. To my beloved wife Three hudnred and fifty dollars to be realized by the sale of all that tract or parcel of land situate in the town of Riga, County of Monroe, State of New York. Being a part of Lot number fifty seven (57) and seventy four (74) of West Plutney district in said town. Beginning at a stake on the east line of said Lot No. 74 three chains south of the North east corner of said lot, thence northerly on the east line of said lot No. 57 and 74 seven chains and fifty links, thence westerly parallel to the south line of said lot No. 57 twenty chains thence southerly parallel to the east line of said lot seven chains and fifty links thence easterly parallel to the north line of said Lot No 74 to the place of beginning containing fifteen acres of land, said property shall be sold after the first day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty six (1866). To my son Schuyler W. Bassett I bequeath one hundred and fifty dollars of the said real estate and in case he does not survive to return from the United States Army of which he is now a soldier, it is to to my wife Luncinda Bassett during the term of her natural life. To my adopted daughter Lucira E. Day the sum of fifty dollars the remainder of the siad property shall be equally divided between my sons Edwin E. Bassett of Cleveland, Ohio or his heirs and my son Sylvester C. Bassett now in the United States service and in case of his death it shall be paid fifty dollars to my son Schuyler and the remainder to their mother or if neither of them return from the army their respective shares shall be given to their mother also all my personal property and the rent of the aforesaid premises for the term of three years shall be at my wifes disposal. I make constitute and appoint Frederick Lewellin of the town of Bergen County of Genesee and State of New York and Lucinda Bassett my wife of the same place Executors of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affix my seal the twelfth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hudnred and sixty two. Wm. P.
