Bassett (Wd) - 72 - M - CT-CT-CT - Brother - Day Laborer Public Works Danbury Evenng News, Monday, 2 Mar 1914 Obituary, Abner Bassett Abner Bassett, who had been in the employ of the New York, New Haven and Hartford railroad in Danbury about thirty years, died at his home on Osborne street on Sunday evening at six o'clock, at the age of fifty-six years. Mr. Bassett has been ill several months and his death was due to pernicious anemia. "Ab" Bassett, as he was known to hundreds of people, was baggagemaster at the New York & New England station on White street for years and his accommodating ways and uniform good nature made him popular with the traveling public. He remained in the same position when the road was absorbed by the New Haven system, and was baggagemaster and assistant baggagemaster after the union station was established on White street. Recently he had been employed by the road in other capacities. Mr. Bassett is survived by his wife and two children. The funeral will be held at the late home on Osborne street on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30. Interment will be in Wooster Cemetery.
