Lula Bass Cousin

The family of Mrs. Lula Bass Cousin gratefully acknowledges all expressions of sympathy shown during their time of bereavement and loss. May God continue to bless each of you.
Mrs. Lula Bass Cousin, age 97, of Rougemont, NC, departed this life on Sunday, January 1, 2023 in Person County. She was born in Granville County July 28, 1925 to the late Sylvester and Mandie Hawley Bass and was a member of Siloam Missionary Baptist Church in Rougemont, NC.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Otha Lee Cousin; two sisters: Lillian B. Hawley and Esther B. Parker; and three brothers: Thomas Bass, James Bass and Eula Bass.
She is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Cousin Simmons and one like-a-son nephew, Thornton ?Ponnie? Ramsey, both of the home; one step-daughter, Pauline Hamlett of Timberlake, NC; one goddaughter, Brooke Eaton Montgomery of Little Rock, Arkansas; one sister-in-law, Pella Mae Bass of Durham, NC; three nephews: Donnie Hawley, Jr. and Earlie Hawley of Rougemont and Larry Hawley of Durham; four nieces: Linda Jean Hawley of Fuquay-Varina, NC, Ann Bass of Durham and Sharon Parker and Tammie Parker of Maryland; four step-grandchildren; four god-grandchildren; and a host of additional relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, January 8, 2023 at 2:00pm at Siloam Missionary Baptist Church, 4688 Mt. Harmony Church Road, Rougemont, NC 27572 with the Rev. Wayne Johnson, Pastor, officiating and providing the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Bass Family Cemetery, Circle B Farm Road, Rougemont, NC 27572.
Visitation will be Saturday at Cunningham and Nelson Funeral Home from 3:00pm to 6:00pm with the family present during the last hour from 5:00pm to 6:00pm.
Visitation will also be Sunday at the church from 1:00pm to 2:00pm when her body will lie in state for one hour prior to the service.
At other times, the family will receive visitors at 101 Cousin Road in Rougemont.
