  Notes	The News & Observer Raleigh, North Carolina Friday, December 21, 2007 Ethel Bass Whitley Middlesex - Ethel Bass Whitley, 93, died Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at Wilson Medical Center.Funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 22, 2007 at Samaria Baptist Church with Reverend Butch Gordon officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson.Mrs. Whitley was a life long member of Samaria Baptist Church, the church she dearly loved.She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin J. Whitley; daughter, Helen Jewell Mitchell; two sons, Talmadge and Vannie Whitley.She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gary Whitley, Sr. and Lisa of Middlex; brother, Darvis Bass of Wilson; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends at Spring Hope Funeral Friday evening from 6:30-8:00 p.m. and at other times at the home.
