Sheila Ann Bassett Hamp
June 28, 1943 ? August 13, 2022
Sheila Ann Bassett Hamp, 79; passed away on August 13, 2022.
Sheila was born in Montpelier, Idaho on June 28, 1943 to Alma Alvero Bassett and Mildred Hayes Bassett.
Mom was the only girl among 6 brothers. She had to be tough during her growing up years so she gave as good as she got. She loved to play practical jokes and torment her brothers throughout her childhood.
Sheila married Earl Hamp in April of 1960 and lived in Grace, Idaho from then on til the end of her life. This is where they raised their family.
Mom worked hard all her life. She taught herself to sew so that she could make all the clothes for her family. Sewing became a major part of her life, from teaching sewing to 4-H?ers, to helping make all the costumes for the Grace High School Drama Department for several years. She loved this most of all, not only for the challenge of creating whatever costume was needed, but for getting to know all the kids.
She did a lot for the community with her sewing skills, teaching and donating her time. She loved every minute of it!! She had a big heart where kids were concerned. She took on the challenge of sewing shirts with port holes for kids with cancer and donated them.
Mom loved her family, especially the grandkids. She spoiled them rotten! She even got them involved in helping with her other passion, gardening. She created a beautiful yard with all kinds of rocks and flower beds for everyone to enjoy. She was involved in the Garden Club and wrote articles for the newspaper.
She is survived by her children, Ken (Callie) Hamp, Grace, Idaho, Christy (John) Miller, Lewiston, Utah, Aaron (Andrea) Hamp, Soda Springs, Idaho, and Melissa (Erick) Curtis, Clinton, Utah. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and two surviving brothers, Barry Bassett and Evan Bassett.
Preceded in death by, Earl Hamp(husband), Alma and Mildred Bassett (parents), Alma, Arlo, David and Lamar Bassett (brothers).
As per her wishes there will be no services.
