Brenda J. Bass LUBBOCK-After a courageous battle with cancer, Brenda J. Bass, 58, of Lubbock passed away peacefully at her home on April 5, 2012. Brenda was born in Paris, Texas, on Sept. 1, 1953, and was raised in Lubbock. She was the beloved wife of Jimmie L. Bass for over 44 years. Brenda will forever be remembered by her children: daughters, Laura Bass of Lubbock and Sheala Thomas of Ohio; son, Howard Bass of Sulfer Springs, Texas; grandchildren, Amanda Ramirez, Jimmie Bass, Anna North, Victoria Bass and Emily Bass; brother, Gary Welch of Winsboro, Texas; sisters, Shelly Sanders of Hobbs, N.M., and Sherry Watkins of Milan, N.M.; and all of her beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Morris M. Welch and Evelyn H. Welch; son, Jimmie R. Bass; and brothers, Billy Welch, Bobby Welch and James Melton. Brenda touched the lives of many people with her smile, generosity and trademark sense of humor. She loved music, laughing with family, friends, and having fun with the children in her life, and especially loved her Bling Bling. A visitation for Brenda will be held at Rix Funeral Directors today, April 8, 2012, from 3 to 5 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2012, in the W.W. Rix Chapel at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, her family suggests donations to the wonderful people who gave her such great care in her time of need: Odyssey Hospice of Lubbock, Texas; Maranatha Church of God; and Texas Tech School of Medicine for Cancer Study and Research. A special thanks to Dr. Everardo Cobos for giving us 16 more years with our precious Mama.
