Jack Chapin Bass M.D. passed away Friday, December 25, 2009, at the age of 82. He was preceded in death by sons Jeff Bass and Brian Clary. Jack is survived by his loving wife, Diane of 34 years; children, Greg Bass, Mark (Mary) Bass, Phillip (Erin) Clary, Amanda (Louis) Markovic and Annie Bass; grandchildren, Samantha, Chelsea, Taylor, Tyler and Ellis; great granddaughter, Margaret. He demonstrated outstanding leadership in the field of pediatrics and had a practice in Upper Arlington for 40 years, he served as Director of Rheumatic Diseases at Children's Hospital and as a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University, Chairman of the Ohio State Medical Association, Committee Person of Government Affairs for the National Arthritis Foundation, he was an Executive Board Member for the Central Ohio Pediatric Society. Dr. Bass exemplified community spirit and leadership serving as Co-Chair and instructor for Camp Enterprise with the Rotary Club of Columbus along with many other civic and professional associations here and in Hilton Head, South Carolina where he donated countless hours to the Alzheimer's CART program for research. Family will receive friends at Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Road, Wednesday, December 30, 2009 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at which time we will pay tribute to Jack's life.
