July 16, 2023 Mrs. Mabel Alice Bass Durden, age 78, of Rome, passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at a local memory care facility. Mrs. Durden was born in Rome, Georgia on February 22, 1945, daughter of the late Harvey Lee Bass and the late Elizabeth Prater Bass. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Celia Durden Klardie. Ms. Durden taught school in the Polk County Schools for several years until her retirement. Survivors include her husband, Hugh Brautus Durden; a son, John Durden (Amy); two granddaughters, Coppi Durden and Perry Durden; a grandson, Connor Klardie; a step granddaughter, McKenna Lynch; a brother, Steve Bass; nieces and nephews. In accordance with her wishes, Mrs. Durden will be cremated. The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Thursday, July 20, 2023, from 3pm until 5pm. Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, has charge of the arrangements.
