      Georgia Bassett

Georgia Honses Bassett, 77, a native of New Orleans and a longtime resident of Kenner, Louisiana entered the kingdom of heaven on Saturday, June 8, 2024. Georgia Bassett and her recently deceased husband, Jimmy, of 42 years together ran a family owned business, Chateau Pub and Restaurant, in Kenner, Louisiana since 1997. The couple formed many friendships inside the doors of Chateau Pub, enjoyed birthdays, hosted parties and celebrated the fact that they had achieved a dream. Georgia always said that her "Hubba" might not be perfect, but he is perfect for me. They were a tight couple indeed, full of love, devoted to one another in good times and bad, in sickness and health and now for eternity in heaven. During the early years of their marriage throughout 2010 Georgia built a solo career as a hair stylist. Inside their house on Yenni Drive, Georgia cut, permed, styled and entertained her clients, it was like you were visiting the salon in the movie Steel Magnolias. Georgia was always dressed to impress and you couldn't miss her in a crowd even though she was a tiny thing. Georgia was a very faithful Christian and enjoyed her time spent at Fellowship Christian Church listening to her pastor, Bill Gephardt, share the word. Georgia loved her family dearly, especially her grandkids. She often said that they made life "click and tick" for her. Her close knit friend group she titled, "The Dirty Dozen", has blessed her with a treasured lifelong friendship with her girlfriends from Warren Easton High School. They spent many gatherings together celebrating life and supporting each other through tough times. Georgia had some unique phrases of endearment: sack of roaches, cool beans, honeypot, honey bunches, bee's knees, and several others that will be missed. Preceded in death by her parents Cleo and George Honses, sister, Ida Picou (Guy), son Todd West, and husband James Bassett. Survived by her son Brent West (Stefanie), grandchildren Ethan and Allie, sister, Evelyn Gaubert, brother George Honses (Jamie), and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at L.A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, 2607 Williams Blvd. Kenner, LA 70062. Family are welcome to attend a private visitation session from 12:30-1:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend a visitation from 1:30-3:30 p.m., services begin at 3:30 p.m.
