Elijah S. Bass
Elijah S. Bass, 62, died Saturday following a fall in front of his home at 3836 Monroe Street, Milwaukie. An autopsy will be held to determine whether his death was result of a skull fracture or a heart attack.
Mr. Bass was born in Polk, Missouri, November 6, 1893, moved with his parents to Fort Cobb, Oklahoma, in 1903, and came to Portland in 1914. He served in France during World War I, returning to Milwaukie where he has lived since that time. For the past 25 years he has been a carpenter in the Southern Pacific railroad shops. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include the wife, Leslie; a son, Richard; sisters, Mrs. Nancy Herrell of Seattle and Mrs. W.R. Rohrer of Milwaukie, and a brother, Andrew Bass, in Illinois.
Funeral will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Peake Memorial Chapel in Milwaukie with vault interment in Willamette National Cemetery.
