Shirley Veronda Bass

Shirley Veronda Bass, 87, of Tucson, Arizona passed away on January 14, 2024 after a short illness. Shirley was born on September 4, 1936, to Lester and Lorene Dove in Duncan, Oklahoma. She was the oldest of 4 children.
On March 27, 1960, she married Travis W. Bass, the love of her life and her husband of almost 60 years, together they raised their daughter Shirland Jo.
She worked as a bookkeeper at several companies until her husband Travis opened his own company in 1971, Travis Bass Air Conditioning, and she ran his office for him until they both retired. Throughout her life Shirley and her husband enjoyed many activities in the Tucson area including square dancing, golfing, traveling, watching the University of Arizona basketball and softball games and spending time with friends and family. Shirley will always be remembered as a fun and vibrant person who never met a stranger.
She is preceded in death by her husband Travis; parents, Lester and Lorene Dove; and her brother, Dewayne Dove.
Shirley is survived by her daughters, Shirland Pike and Pam Martinez; her sister, Venita Riddle; brother, Charles Dove; 7 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Whitt Funeral Home in Duncan, Oklahoma with Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. Interment will follow in the Duncan Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home.
