Nellie Mae Bass Rhoades
Nellie Mae Bass Rhoades, 83, died June 3, 2008, at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach. She was born in Madison County and lived in Vero Beach for 48 years, coming from her birthplace. She was a member of Good Shepherd Church of God in Winter Beach. Survivors include her sons, Earl Bass of Vero Beach, Lester Bass of Winter Beach, Roy Bass of Vero Beach and James Webb of Sebastian; daughters, Mary Danison of Okeechobee, Letha Rhodes, Merle Hedges and Dorothy Fronduto, all of Vero Beach; stepsons, Gene Bass of Winter Beach; brother, Teford Colvin of Bartow; sisters, Estelle Bass and Abbie Bass, both of Madison County; 22 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two husbands, George W. Bass and Richard Rhoades. Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice House, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960. SERVICES: Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. June 7 at Good Shepherd Church of God in Winter Beach. A service will be at 10:30 a.m. June 7 at the church with the Rev. Tom Durrance officiating. Burial will be in Winter Beach Cemetery. Arrangements by Strunk Funeral Home and Crematory in Vero Beach.
