Angie Bassett of Gustine passed away Sunday, February 9 at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto at age 83. She passed surrounded by her loving family including her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchild, 3 brothers and sisters-in-law and many others.
Angie was born Angelina Mae Perry on April 22, 1936, to Joe and Sarah Perry in their home on Villa Manucha Rd in Newman. She was preceded in death by her parents and oldest brother Joe Perry Jr.
She attended Orestimba High School and graduated in 1954. She then worked at First Western Bank until 1960 when she married her husband of 59 years, Jim Bassett, on December 4, 1960 at St Joachim?s Catholic Church.
Angie was a charter member of the Newman YLI and served 12 years as President and held many other offices.
Angie was a dedicated homemaker devoted to her husband, children and grandchildren. She worked weekly at the auction yard in Newman as a write-in girl for over 30 years. Gardening was her favorite hobby and something she truly enjoyed. She was also grandma to many grandpuppies, constantly surrounded by the family?s dogs.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jim Bassett; daughters, Sherri Marsigli (Bill) and Lori Branco (Vern); her son, Steve Bassett; 6 grandsons; 1 granddaughter; 1 great grandson; 3 brothers and their wives; 3 step-grandchildren and 5 step-great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held at the Shrine of Our Lady of Miracles Catholic Church in Gustine 5-7 p.m. Thursday, February 20, with a Rosary to follow at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Shrine of Our Lady of Miracles Catholic Church 10 a.m. on Friday, February 21. Interment will follow at Hills Ferry Cemetery in Newman.
