Frank Elmer Bassett
Sept. 29, 1920 - June 10, 2007
Frank, 86, went home to be with the Lord Sunday.
He was born in Carneyville, Wyo., the son of Ori and Elizabeth (Turner) Bassett. He graduated from Anacortes, Wash., High School.
After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he married Virginia Hoskins in November 1944. She preceded him in death.
He worked for Civil Service for 29 years. During part of the tenure, he was at Adair Air Force Base, now called Adair Village north of Corvallis, and at North Bend Air Force Base in North Bend.
Frank married Delma Howard in November 1980.
He loved using his hands to build and create things like woodworking and stained glass. He loved the challenge of fixing things.
Frank was a member of the First Assembly of God. He was a godly, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a prayer warrior and prayed for all of us. "Those of us left behind will miss him, but are also rejoicing with him."
Frank leaves behind wife Delma; sons and their wives Frank Jr. and Sharon, and Dave and Shawn; stepchildren and spouses Gay and Doug Smith, Steve and Jan Howard, and Doug and Ruth Howard; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sister Lillian Troxel. He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia; daughter Jeanette; grandson Jesse; brothers Jack, Ray and Art; and sister Doris Maring.
Visitation will be from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday at Fisher Funeral Home and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at the First Assembly of God. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First Assembly of God, with committal services following at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens.
