My dear Sir and namesake:
It was with great pleasure and surprise that I received and read a letter from a person with a name so completely like my own. I am only doubtful of your middle name but your initial is the same so maybe it is 100% like mine.
I suppose you wonder what took me so long in answering your questionaire. Well, not living very close to all my folks it took me some time to get in touch with each one and secure the correct information.
I trust my efforts & answers prove satisfactory and of value to you. My father, of which I suppose you are the most interested in, being left an orphan at the age of eight doesn't give us much to work on, on his side of the story. As far as I know we have no relatives on his side, so naturally we would be greatly surprised and pleased if any were located & could get in touch with them.
I am a Tool & Die maker by trade and am at present working the Engineering Dept. of a large electrical factory in Hartford, Connecticut. We own our own home and trust that good fortune will call on us quite often.
May I hear from you again? And I would deem it a great pleasure to receive a picture of you, autographed by you with your full name. Just a snapshot would be cherished. I haven't a very recent picture of myself but will make it a business of having one taken and sent it to you, if you wish it.
I trust at some time I may have the pleasure of meeting you personally. Hartford is a big insurance city you know.
Very truly yours,
Arthur Harry Bassett
