Frank E. Bass, TEA Official, Is Dead At 60
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. ? Frank E. Bass, 60, executive secretary of the Tennessee Education Association, died here yesterday.
Bass, a native of Liberty, Tenn., has been with the TEA since 1950 after serving as a teacher and administrative official at Marshall, Rutherford and Hickman counties and Mount Pleasant.
He received his AB degree from Middle Tennessee State College and a master?s degree from George Peabody College for Teachers.
In addition to his work with county schools, Bass served as curriculum director of the State Department of Education and as director of teacher training for Middle Tennessee State College at Murfreesboro.
He was chairman of the Education Committee for the century White House Conference on Children and Youth, a member of the Governor?s Planning Committee for White House Conference on Education and a member of the Governor?s Safety Committee.
Bass was active in the Tennessee Congress of Parents and Teachers of which he was a vice-president from 1939 to 1942. At the present he was a member of the organization?s Board of Managers.
He was a member of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, Scottish Rite and Rotary Club. Bass was a member and deacon of the Murfreesboro Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Irene McCrary Bass. Funeral service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Thursday at Murfreesboro.
