Liberty Man Shot To Death In Fight
Argument Follows Drinking Bout Sunday Night
Liberty, Tenn., Nov. 30 ? (UP) Tom Bass, 32, is dead and Campbell Bradley, 28, is in jail at Smithville charged with his murder as the result of an argument at 3:30 this morning in the office of the Liberty Savings Bank. Bass is the son of J.M. Bass, cashier of the bank.
Bass, Bradley and Jim Yeargan had been to Woodville early in the night and had just returned to Liberty and entered the bank when Bass is said to have engaged Yeargan in an argument. Bradley claimed he interfered and Bass started at him with a knife. he fired three shots, two of them taking effect, one in Bass? head and the other in his shoulder. Bass lived about two hours and made no statement.
The three men were said to have been drinking. Bass is survived by one child and his wife, from whom he is separated.
Both Bass and Bradley are World War veterans.
