Max Allen Bassett
Max Allen Bassett, 75, of Horseshoe Bend, son of the late Claude and Verna Faye Krutsinger Bassett, was born Oct. 28, 1931, in Xenia, Illinois.
He died November 21, 2006, at his home.
He was united in marriage to Peggy Sue Kiefer on April 13, 1984, at Florence, Alabama.
He worked as a machinist making overhead crane parts.
He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He was of the Church of Christ faith.
Max Bassett's survivors include his wife, Peggy Sue Bassett of Horseshoe Bend; four sons, Terry Bassett of Flora, Illinois, Richard Bassett of East St. Louis, Illinois, Randy Bassett of Xenia, Illinois, and Eddie Bassett of Xenia, Illinois; four daughters, Claudia Proctor of Aurora, Illinois, Linda Glover of Dundee, Michigan, Donna Ferguson of Birmingham, Alabama, and Jessica Rowland of Mayfield, Kentucky; two stepsons, Timmy Lipford of Florence, and Randy Lipford of Moline, Illinois, two stepdaughters, Tami Sharp of Florence and Sheila Lipford of Agency, Illinois, a brother, Rex Bassett of Bella Vista, Arkansas; 22 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Robert Bassett; a stepson, Jeffrey Lipford; and a grandson, Michael Lipford.
The funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Barker Funeral Home in Salem.
Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
