Monique J. Belisle passed away on May 25. Monique was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis when she was in her mid-twenties. After battling MS for thirty years it finally took its toll and she died from complications of her MS in her sleep.
Monique was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on September 9, 1959. In 1973, she moved to Roseville, California when her mother, Marta V. Belisle (Bassett) accepted a position as the Executive Director of the Roseville Chamber of Commerce. Monique graduated from Oakmont High School in 1977. She graduated from Sierra College in 1982 with her Associates degree in Early Childhood Education. She worked as a pre-school teacher for several years. She later made a career change by attending Western Career College, and became a medical assistant. When she was working as a medical assistant Monique was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Unfortunately, her MS prevented her from working at a job she loved.
She loved volunteering at her church, music, reading, and spending as much time as she could with her two nephews and niece. Most of all, it was her relationship with Christ that sustained her through good times and bad.
She later moved to Hillsboro, Oregon in 2007 to be closer to her family. She is survived by her mother, Marta Bassett also of Hillsboro, Ore., her sister Michelle McPherran of Beaverton, Ore., nephews Andrew McPherran of Bellevue, Washington, Stuart McPherran of Beaverton, Ore., niece Kaylen McPherran and father Aldorien Belisle of Monument, Colorado.
A celebration of Monique's life was held at the Calvary Lutheran Church on June 26. If you would like to honor Monique's memory you can donate in her name to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
