Services for Jeanette Bass, 90 of Bullard, will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at Stewart Family Funeral Home with Larry Johnston officiating. Entombment will follow at Tyler Memorial Park Mausoleum under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bass passed away Friday, November 10, 2023 in Bullard. She was born September 20, 1933 in Bullard to Claude Alfred Barnes and Ella Irene Phillips Barnes.
Jeanette attended Tyler Junior College where she was an Apache Bell. While an Apache Bell, she performed at the Sugar Bowl in 1951. She then attended St. Mary's School of Nursing in Port Authur, TX, where she graduated as class Valedictorian. She went on to attend Texas Women's University earning a BS in Nursing.
She began her career in Public Health at Tyler Smith County Health Department. She held the position of Family Planning Coordinator with Region 7 at the Tyler Smith County Health Department until her retirement in 1983.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Bass, and parents, Claude and Ella Barnes of Bullard. She is survived by her loving family including son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Candy Johnston of Ledbetter, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Terry and Randy Diviney of Bullard, TX; and son and daughter-in-law, Brent and Perla Bass of Zacatecas, Mexico; 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be David Barnes, Brian Barnes, David Gray, Casey Johnston, Brandon Diviney, and Stephen Phillips.
Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 ? 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler.
