Martin P. Bass, 92, of Summit died April 15, 2012 at SWRMC in McComb after a brief illness. Mr. Bass was born on April 11, 1920 in Lawrence County, MS to Gale and Velma Bass. Mr. Bass was a veteran of World War II serving in Europe and Korea. He was retired from the 155th National Guard Unit with a rank of Sergeant Major. Mr. Bass was a longtime member of New Heights Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Louise Bass; grandson, Andy Milton; granddaughter, Jennifer Bass; two sisters, Voncile Errington and Patsy Gale Bass; one brother, Hollis Bass. Survivors include his daughter, Marsha Milton and husband, Bill; two sons, Marty Bass and wife, Paulette and Marlin Bass and wife, Cindy; five grandchildren, Bo Milton, Ric Bass, Josh Bass, Josh Lofton and Brooklyn Bass; seven great grandchildren and siblings Dot Bearn, Thomas Bass, Barbara Ward and Jackie Sue Smith. Visitation will be Tuesday at New Heights Baptist Church from 5 until 8 PM and Wednesday from 9 until services at 11:00 AM. Rev. Rick Kennedy and Rev. Billy Howse will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Jones Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.

Martin Bass
Martin Bass, 92, of Summit, died April 15, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at New Heights Baptist Church and will continue at 9 a.m. Wednesday until services at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Summit. Jones Family Funeral Services of McComb is handling arrangements.
