FORT WORTH ? Jack S. Bass, 95, a retired accountant and Realtor, passed away Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, in Fort Worth.
Graveside service: 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in Greenwood Memorial Park. Pallbearers: Mark Rhea, Robert Rhea, Madison Rhea, Daniel Rhea, and Samuel Rhea. Honorary Pallbearers. The Longhorn Sunday School Class of Broadway Baptist Church.
Jack Bass was born July 25, 1907, in Colorado City. He moved with his family to Fort Worth in 1912 and graduated from Paschall High School in 1927. He studied Accounting and radio communication at TCU. He married Sarah Carolyn Rhea of Forney Sept. 1, 1934. They were married for almost 68 years before Carolyn passed away in July 200.
For 16 years Jack was a traveling auditor and sales manager for Texas Louisiana Power Company, which later became Community Public Service Company.
In 1943, he joined Loffland Luther Construction Company, and began his career in west Fort Worth real estate development and his longtime friendship with J.T. Luther and his family. Later he successfully established J.S. Bass Realty Company, dealing with sales, rentals and property management in the Ridglea area for many years.
Mr. Bass was a life member of the Fort Worth Real Estate Board, secretary-treasurer and charter member of the Westside Optimist Club, a member of the Texas Real Estate Association, the National Association of Real Estate Boards and Irdglea Country Club. He had been a member of Broadway Baptist Church since 1924, and a member of the Longhorn Sunday School class.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn, and his brothers, W.A. Bass and Homer E. Bass.
Survivors: Brother, Frank T. Bass of Forth Worth, brother-in-law, Frank B. Rhea jr. and wife, Joyce of Kaufman; sister-in-law, Helen Rhea of Greenville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
