  Notes	The Indianapolis Star, Indiana, Wednesday, February 13, 1924 W.H. Bass, Pioneer of Greenwood, Dies Greenwood, Ind., Feb. 12 - William H. Bass, a pioneer resident of Greenwood, died this afternoon following a short illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the residence and burial will be at Greenwood. He retained, until his death, a large part of the farm land surrounding the town. The ground upon which the First Baptist Church here is built was donated by Mr. Bass's mother. He was the oldest living member of the church. He was a veteran of the civil war. He was married to Miss Lavinia Brewer in 1866. She died in 1921. He was engaged in the retail dry goods business from 1882 to 1905. He took an active interest in civic affairs and was one of the organizers of the Greenwood Building and Loan Association. He was a lifelong member of the Republican party and served as township trustee. He is survived by five daughters, Alice, Kate, Margaretta Bass and Mrs. Thomas Newsom of Greenwood and Miss Jessie Bass of Indianapolis. The Misses Alice, Kate and Margaretta Bass are teachers in the Indianapolis city schools. A son, Mark, died several years ago. A brother, George W. Bass of Mooresville, died last week.
