In the name of God, amen, I Jesse Bass of Dallas County, State of Alabama, being of sound and perfect mind and memory, blessed be God, on this 21st day of September and the year of our Lord 1821 make and publish this my last will and testament in the manner following that is to say, First, after all my just debts are paid I give and bequeath to my wife, Nancy Bass, two Negroes, John and Rose (for) her lifetime then to be sold and divided equally between Barney Bass , Ann Bradberry, Sarah Millard, Nancy Bass. Secondly, I give and bequeath to my son Charles Bass one Negro boy named A?? Lastly I give and bequeath to my wife, Nancy Bass, all my movable property, consisting of household furniture, stock of cattle, hogs, crops now in the field with all my outstanding debts, one horse and one wagon, one cart and one chair, harness. And I hereby make and ordain my son Charles Bass executor of this my last will and testament. In witness where of the said Jesse Bass have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal the day/year above to wit.
Jesse Bass signed, sealed, published and declared by the said, Jesse Bass (seal) the testator as his last wheel and testament in the presence of us who were present at the time of the signing and sealing.
