Don Bassett, Waukee
March 31, 1931 - April 8, 2006
Don Bassett, 75, of Waukee died Saturday, April 8, 2006 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines from complications of cancer.
Services were held Wednesday, April 12 at Waukee United Methodist Church. Cremation followed services.
Don was born on March 31, 1931 in Stuart, the son of Fory and Ilo (Purviance) Bassett and had lived in Waukee since 1962. He was a self-employed carpenter. Don was a member of the Waukee United Methodist Church, the Waukee American Legion and a former member of the Waukee Volunteer Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Darrell Bassett and an infant daughter, Dena.
Don is survived by his wife, Joy; daughter Christy Jungman of Ven Meter; two sons, Jerry Bassett of Grimes and Darrell Bassett of Urbandale; six grandchildren; two sisters, Verlee Cline of Hackensack, Minnesota; and Vivian Little of Menlo, and his brother, Marvin Bassett of Stuart.
Memorial contributions can be made to his church.
Brandt Funeral Home in Dallas Center was in charge of arrangements.
