He was the son of the late Murray M. and Gertrude Harper Bass. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 24 at Worthington Funeral Home with Rev. Andy Lee White officiating. Interment will follow in the Bass Family Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Peggy White Bass of the home; three sons, Luon Shelton Bass of Lumberton, Gilbert Gerald Bass of Winston Salem, Lloyd Anthony Long Bass of the home; two step-sons, Warren G. Allen of Fairmont, Lacy Blankenship of Orrum; one brother, Richard Devon Bass of Whiteville; 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
