Harold Talbert Bass

MORRISTOWN ? Harold Talbert Bass, 87, of Morristown, died Monday at Morristown Manor.
Born Sept. 10, 1919, in Morristown, he was the son of Walter (Button) and Lelah (Talbert) Bass.
Mr. Bass was a 1937 Morristown High School graduate. He was a member of the only basketball team to be undefeated.
He co-owned a Soil Service in Morristown and had previously owned a milk route in Morristown before retiring in 1995.
He was a Navy WWII veteran.
He was a loving father and papaw.
He also was a life member of the Morristown Masonic Lodge and a life member of the Morristown American Legion. Mr. Bass was a member of the Morristown Methodist Church. He had formerly served on the Morristown School Board. He was an avid IU basketball fan.
Mr. Bass married Joyce Aline Hardin Bass, and she preceded him in death on Nov. 2, 1997.
Survivors include three sons, Kevin H. (Janet) Bass of Kokomo, Jerry D. Bass and Marvin (Mary) K. Bass, both of Bloomington; his special friend, Marie Pile of Shelbyville; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruth Long Carmony of Shelbyville and Lois Batton of Freeport.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joyce Aline Bass; two grandchildren; and three sisters, Mary Bollato, Elizabeth (Sib) Richardson and Dorothy Ross.
Services will be 11:30 p.m. Thursday at the Morristown United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Kenneth Wooden and Bill Farmer officiating. Burial will be at Hanover Cemetery in Morristown.
Friends may call 4-8 p.m. today at the Freeman Family Funeral Home, Frazier Chapel, 124 E. North St., Morristown.
