Louis Frank Bass Sr.
1920 - 2006
SPRINGFIELD Louis Frank Bass Sr. 85, of 70 Cornell Street, departed this life on Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at Baystate Medical Center. Born in New Brockton, Alabama, he was a son of the late Frank Bass and the late Frances (Goseal) Bass. An Army veteran of World War II, he moved of Springfield in 1947 and was employed at Moore Drop Forge until his retirement. He had been a part owner of Bass Brothers Cleaners and Record Store, Bass Variety Store, and the Ernest and Bass Barber Shop. He was a former member of Faith Baptist Church, and a member Church, King David Lodge of Masons, and the Springfield 500 Club. He is survived by his wife, Catherine (Davis) Bass of Springfield; a daughter, Patricia Stewart-Goggins of Dayton, OH; three sons, Louis F. Bass Jr. and Reginald K. Bass, both of Springfield and Anthony "Tony" S. Bass of Cranston, RI; a brother, Willie C. Bass of Springfield; four grandchildren, Kobie D. Stewart, Reginald Bass Thomas, Kimberly D. Streeter, and Devin Bass, all of Springfield; a great-grandson, Timothy Cheeks of Springfield; a son-in-law, Rev. Morris A. Goggins of Dayton; five sisters-in-law, Evergreen Bass, Mary Bass, and Ruby Long, all of Springfield, Connie Pender of Buffalo, NY, and Bobbie Alston of CA. The calling hour is 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 368 Bay St., followed by funeral services at 11 a.m., with interment at the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery at 2 pm. Harrell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
