Charles W. ?Bill? Bassett

Charles W. "Bill" Bassett, 91, Kokomo, passed away at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014, at Aperion Care Kokomo. He was born Jan. 17, 1923, in Kokomo, to the late Clifford and Effa Bassett.
A 1941 Kokomo High School graduate, Bill went on to serve his country during World War II with the United States Army in Normandy and received a Purple Heart for his service.
Bill also worked for Tenbrook Sales as a sales representative, retiring in 2010 after 60 years of service.
His memberships included St. Patrick Catholic Church, the American Legion, the VFW, and the Eagles.
He is survived by his wife, Minnie G. (Meeks) Bassett; a son, Jeffery (Nancy) Bassett, Indianapolis; a grandson, Thomas Bassett, Indianapolis; and a stepson, David (Patty) Taskey, Kokomo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and four brothers.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Homes & Crematory Lincoln Road Chapel, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, with the Rev. Father Michael McKinley officiating. Burial will follow in Kokomo Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Army. Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
