    • In the name of God amen I Christopher Bass of the parish of Dale and county of Chesterfield being low and weak but thanks be to God perfect mind and memory make an order in this my last will and testament in the matter and form following.

      Imprimus. I give unto my loving wife Frances the use of my plantation whereon I now live and all my land adjoining also the Following negroes, viz. Dick Tom, Sam, Cale and Sylvie and all my horses, cattle, hogs and sheep that is on the side of plantation and 1/2 of my household and kitchen furniture as long as she continues my widow and add her death or marriage to return hereafter devised.

      Item. I give devise and bequeath to my son William Bass my plantation in the county of Amelia where he now liveth and all my lands adjoining also six Negroes, to wit, Michele, Phill, Moll,Tom, Edith and Jack, and all the increase the said Moll shall have from this time if any, also all the Household and kitchen Furniture that he has now in possession, 1/2 of the cattle,hogs and sheep that is on the said plantation also all the horses except one bay horse known by the name of buck that is on the plantation to him and his heirs forever.

      Item. I give devise and bequeath to my son Christopher Bass all my lands in the county of Cumberland also all my lands in the county of Chesterfield at my wife's marriage or death and all my stock of horses, cattle, hogs and sheep all my household and kitchen furniture, except those are ready mentioned to my son William, to him and his heirs and assigns forever.

      Item. I give devise to my daughter Mary Bass one negro girl named Tab to her and her heirs forever.

      Item. I give and devise all the remainder of my Negroes be equally divided between my son Christopher Bass and my daughter Mary Bass including those lent my wife till her marriage or death to them, their heirs and assigns forever but in case that my son Christopher should die before he arrives at the age of 21 then I give the said Estate allotted him by this will to be equally divided between my son William and my daughter Mary the land excepted and their heirs forever. In case that my daughter Mary should die before she arrives at the age of 21 that then I give the said Estate allotted her by this Will to be equally divided between my sons William and Christopher to their heirs forever and I do hereby ordain constitute an appoint my son Christopher Bass, my brother Edward Bass and my brother Joseph Bass, joint executors of this my last will and testament revoking and making null and void all and every other will or wills formally made by me in Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 8th day November 1772.
