Ruby Lucille Bassett

Ruby Lucille Brown Bassett, 93, of Boone, Iowa passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at Westhaven Community in Boone, Iowa. She had been a resident of Westhaven Community since 2016. Ruby was born November 25, 1926 in Boone County, Iowa; she was the daughter of Titus and Bertha Day Brown.
On July 28, 1945, after her graduation from high school, Ruby was united in marriage to Charles Bassett in Temple, Texas, right before he left for Germany. They were the proud parents of five childen: Marcia, Jackie, David, Joanie, and Sandy.
Ruby and Chuck danced all of their lives together, loving country western music. They stayed busy working the family farm and raising their five children together. Ruby lived a full and happy life. She was a good friend to many. She was a member of the Napier United Methodist Church.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; four sisters; and one grandson. She is survived by her husband of 74 years, Charles ?Chuck? Bassett of Westhaven Community, Boone, IA; her children: Marcia (Dave) Hurst of Boone, IA, Jackie (Ken) Day of Springdale, AR, David Bassett of Wahkon, MN, Joanie (Le) Lubka of Ames, IA, and Sandy Bassett of Minnetonka, MN; her grandchildren: April Jackson, Ben Bassett, Ty Bassett, Ky Bassett, Zach Hurst, Sam Hurst, Tony Day, Casey Day, Christopher Day, Danielle Day Renfroe, Caleb Lubka, and Mollie Bosman; and 23 great grandchildren.
A memorial celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials can be made to Napier United Methodist Church.
