Robert M. Williams DPM
Age 79 passed away Monday, December 10, 2007 at St. Anthony Nursing Home, Crown Point, IN. Bob graduated in 1946 from Attica High School, Attica, IN., Indiana University in 1956 and Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine in 1972.
While working for Prudential Insurance he lost his hearing due to a rare condition.
At that point he sought another way to provide for his family and decided to go back to Medical School. At the age of 40, deaf, with a wife and three sons, Bob started through Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago. He graduated from there in 1972 and started his practice in Merrillville that year. He retired from his practice, Ambulatory Foot Care, Inc. in October of 1996. He turned the practice over to his son Bruce at that time, after they had practiced together for 4 years. He and his wife Mary were very fortunate to have traveled often. He died after a prolonged illness from a rare blood disorder called amyloidosis. Robert is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary; Sons, Dr. Chuck (Jenny) Williams of Lodi, CA, Dr. Michael Williams (Clifton Scott) of Baltimore, MD, and Dr. Bruce (Pam) Williams of Valparaiso, IN. Grandchildren, Benjamin (Rebecca) Williams, Bopper Williams, Zack Williams, Kaitlin Williams and Erin Williams: Great grandchild, Charlotte Williams; Sister, Mary Ann Yoakum of Oxford, IN.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 15, 2007 from 11 am to 2 pm. at Rees Funeral Home, Winfield Chapel, 10909 Randolph St. Winfield, IN.
A celebration of his life will be Saturday, December 15, 2007 at 2 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Winfield Chapel. Cremation to follow services at Kelly-Carroll Crematory. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Indiana University Foundation/Amyloid Fund to the attention of Dr. Merrill D. Benson, 635 Barnhill Drive, MS-A128, Indianapolis, IN 46202.
