He was born in Floyd County, was the retired owner of Bassett Heating and Air Conditioning, was a member of Owensboro Church of Christ and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was an Army veteran of World War II and saw duty in the East Indies. Survivors include his wife, Iona Bassett; two daughters, Mrs. Ron L. (Joy) Tepner of Barrington, Ill., and Mrs. Robert (Jo Ellen) Mattingly of Henderson; four grandchildren, Joseph Eric Tepner of Abilene, Texas, Marc Allen Tepner of Barrington, Robert Jason Mattingly of Henderson and Kerri Anne Mattingly of Owensboro; and a great-grandson, Jacob McIntire of Owensboro. Services are at 2 p.m. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home. Burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society, 920 Frederica St., Owensboro, Ky, 42301. Memorial contribution envelopes are available at the funeral home.
