  Notes	Find-a-Grave Obituary Chico Driver Is Killed In Car Crash A 26-year-old Chico man was killed yesterday when his car smashed into a parked car just south of the Little Chico Creek Bridge in Chico. Witnesses to the accident said the car driven by Robert Ray Bass, Route 4, Box 437a, Chico, and another car passed them about three blocks north of the bridge going 80 to 90 MPH. The California Highway patrol said Bass evidently lost control of his car. His death increased the 1956 Butte County traffic death total to 36, an increase of 20 deaths over the same time in 1955. The count for all of 1955 was 17. Bass was still alive when he was taken to Enice Hospital in Chico. he died approximately one half hour after arriving. The CHP said it was necessary to turn the car on its side and chain it to a power pole so Bass could be removed from the wreck. Funeral services are pending at the Brusie Funeral Home in Chico.
