Philip Fry (Picture included)
Philip Fry, 65, of West Hartford, beloved husband and father, died peacefully, December 27th, at home, after a brave battle with glioblastoma. He was born in Marion, Indiana, son of Virginia (Bruch) Fry Walker and the late Francis G. Fry. A Hoosier through and through, he graduated from Indiana University and began his life's work in the transit industry in his hometown. He honed his transit management skills during his 20 years in Altoona, PA where the newspaper dubbed him the "bus czar." In 1997, this midwest native and his family came to the northeast so he could become part of the CTtransit team. Over his career, he nurtured and mentored many with his enthusiasm for his profession and his steady and calm demeanor. His attention to detail and his concern for the customer drove his work. He leaves his wife of 32 years, Sandra and his two children, Emily Fry of Mystic, CT and Daniel Fry of Philadelphia, PA. He is also survived by his mother Virginia, and his sister Susan Bournique and husband Michael of Marion, Indiana,his brothers David Fry and wife Cindy of Greeley, Colorado and James Fry of San Antonio, Texas and his nieces and nephews. He loved his family, and he loved his friends, and he loved his Hoosier basketball. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, January 6 at 4 PM at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2080 Boulevard, West Hartford, CT 06107. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Phil's memory.
