Ruth Bassett Pagano
Ruth Bassett Pagano, 68, of Catherine St., Westbrook, wife of the late Neal "The Barber" Pagano, died Wednesday (July 2, 2003) at Middlesex Hospital, Middletown. Born in Danbury on March 6, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Ronald and Frances (Greene) Bassett. Ruth lived in Danbury for many years prior to moving to Westbrook 35 years ago. She was employed by the Lee Co. for 10 years and was a member of the Westbrook Congregational Church where she actively participated in the Adult Bible Study. She is survived by three sons, Neal Pagano and his wife, Debra of Westbrook, Steven Pagano and his wife, Phyllis of Essex and Richard Pagano of East Lyme; two brothers, Ronald Bassett of S. Carolina and Fred Bassett of California; a step-sister, Lou Ann Backer of New York; three grandsons, Justin, Sean and Anthony Pagano and her 17 year old dog, Muffin. Funeral services for Ruth will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 7, at the First Congregational Church of Westbrook, 1166 Boston Post Rd., Westbrook. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Westbrook. Friends may call at the Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Rd., Old Saybrook on Sunday evening 5-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Weiss Hospice Unit, c/o Middlesex Hospital, 28 Crescent St., Middletown or to the CT Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd., Newington, 06111.
