Frank H. Bass
Laurens - March 16 - The funeral of Frank H. Bass, 31, who died here yesterday of a heart ailment, was conducted this afternoon at the home of his father, John N. Bass, and stepmother, Mrs. Sarah Henderson Bass. The young man became ill about a week ago. He was a native of Laurens, but spent part of his life at Greenville, where he attended the Parker district school. Besides his father and stepmother, he is survived by one brother, J.D. Bass; a sister, Mrs. Ernest Tollison, and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Wister L. Riddle, all of this city. The Reverend B.H. Harvey of Central Methodist church, and the Reverend J. H. Kyzar, pastor of the First Baptist church of Laurens, officiated at the funeral. A young men’s quartet, of which Mr. Bass had been a member for many years, conducted the song service. Burial was in the Laurens cemetery. Active pallbearers were the young man’s uncles, as follows: B.S. Riddle, L.M. Riddle, Wright Riddle, Guy Riddle, Homer Carlton and Judge Carlton. The honorary escort was composed of Senator C.A. Cromer, Dr. M.B. Nickels, J.T. Lee, Dexter Nelson, Carl Taylor, Rufus Barnett, Frank Martin, Sr. , Jim Mundy, Jack Roberts, Callis Hill and Barney Kelly.
