Ruby Lavern Winchester Broxson
Funeral services for Ruby Lavern Broxon, 80, Claremore are Monday, June 9, 2 p.m., at Key Funeral Home Chapel, Locust Grove. Burial will follow at New Home Cemetery in Peggs. Services are under the direction of Key Funeral Home of Locust Grove.
Broxon was born Aug. 12, 1927 in Seneca, Mo., to John Henry Winchester and Cecilia Cato. She died June 5, 2008 in Claremore. She grew up in Jerusalem, Ark., Rose and California but lived most of her life in Locust Grove. She married Charles Sam Bass in 1943 in Strathmore, Calif. They moved to Locust Grove in 1952. Broxon worked in retail sales and was a nurse's aid. She married Bill Broxon in January of 1967. They lived in Locust Grove until they moved to Claremore in 2006 due to health reasons. Broxon's hobbies include sewing, gardening and especially her grandchildren. She was a member of Jubilee Ministries in Locust Grove.
She is survived by her husband Bill; two daughters, Carolyn Hayter and husband David of Claremore, Darlene Gwartney and husband Jack of Strang; one son, Garrey Bass of Locust Grove; 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren with one on the way; three step children, Bill Broxson Jr., of Colorado Springs, Co., Latrice Rector of Corsicana, Texas and Don Broxson of Corsicana, Texas; one sister, Barbar Widney and husband Lester of Claremore; numerous nieces and nephews and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Cordie O'Rear and Viola Winchester; one brother, Woodrow Winchester and infant triplet siblings; one son, Charles Richard Bass; granddaughters, Sheila Eubanks and Annette Marie Bass and great grandson, Jackson Peace.
