Horace Eugene Bass
Mr. Horace Eugene Bass, 75, of Newnan, died Sept. 30, 2005, at Newnan Hospital. A native of Carroll County, Ga., he was born Feb. 22, 1930 to the late William David and Zelma Johnson Bass. Mr. Bass retired from Douglas-Lomasson Company. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Newnan. He is survived by his wife Jane Hamby Bass. His children are Blake Bass and his wife Lila, Mark Bass and his wife Alice, Amanda Pettite and her husband Boyd, and Brent Bass and his wife Elizabeth. His grandchildren include Christopher Bass and his fiance Erin Jennings, Stephen Bass, Emily Bass, Morgan Bass, Katie Pettite, Karlee Pettite, and Austin Bass. Also surviving are his sisters, Ethyl Young, Nell Beavers, Grace Calhoun, Betty Miller and Kathleen Hall; sisters-in-law, Linda Bass and Vassie Bass Slaton. Preceding him in death are his brothers, Larry Bass, James Bass, Sr., Jerry Bass, Sr., David Bass, Jr., Barry Bass, and a sister, Ruth Bass Dalton. Funeral arrangements are being conducted by McKoon Funeral Home at 38 Jackson Street where the family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. The funeral will be Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church on West Washington Street.
